Soo Yeon Lee is an international table tennis champion, fashion model, actress and the face of contemporary ping pong worldwide.
Born (May 22, 1984) in Pusan, South Korea, Soo began her extensive training in the sport of table tennis at the age of nine under the supervision of Olympic Gold Medalist Jung Hwa Hyun. Recognition for Soo’s unusual skills came early after she won six successive titles as the Korean National Junior Champion, as well as other international junior tournaments since the age of eleven. Soo later won three Korean national tournaments and secured an esteemed position on the Korean National Team where she won 2nd Place in the World University Championship in China. Some of her additional championship achievements include being crowned the 2004 New Zealand Women’s Singles Champion and the Sportsperson of the year. In 2007, she arrived in the United States and won a number of U.S. national tournaments including the U.S Open Championship.
Soo’s status as a world-class athlete combined with her success as a model have served to explosively launch her acting career in television and film. Her triple threat array of talents have led to numerous personal appearances on shows like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Arsenio Hall Show, HBO Entourage TV show, and many others. Soo was also recently featured in a Playboy Video as the world’s sexiest athlete and model.
Soo’s modeling talents earned her a lead role in the high-fashion film “Grand Slam”, which released on Moet Hennessy and Louis Vuitton’s website NOWNESS, and featured such revered designers as Versace, Jill Sander and Christian Louboutin. Additionally, Soo has appeared in numerous print and TV ad campaigns for high-profile brands such as Nike, Adidas, K-Swiss, Asics, Target, McDonald’s, Red Bull, and others.
Branded as the new face of contemporary ping pong, Soo has become the # 1 choice of marketers for hosting and performing at high-profile ping pong events and television shows globally. Soo is the ambassador of the ping pong social club SPIN founded by actress Susan Sarandon and has been affiliated with Spin since its New York City grand opening in 2009.
